There is absolutely no good proven reason to do this. This goes back to the heavily promoted "active management of labor" or O'Driscol approach to reduce c-section rates. I see nothing wrong with waiting 1-2 hrs after an ARM to see if labor kicks in, but the clock is running after an ARM and if there is no response I start Oxytocin. The proper management of inductions and augmentations is very poorly thought these days and is one of the contributing factors to the high c-section rates.
