Re: GYN: Liquid PapsFrom: Joanne Bulley, MD (islesannie@yahoo.com)Tue Aug 17 22:58:00 2004
The pathologists at the hospital here in Keene looked everything over and bought the equipment to do the SurePath one in house - which we have been using for the past 4 or 5 years. We completely converted to taht and have not done slides since that time for cervical cytology. Just like the Quest ThinPrep, you use the "Paintbrush" as you call it - and drop the whole brush in the liquid. And for the ones you need more endocervical cells, you have a thin brush thing - and sometimes I end up using the old cytobrush and cutting it off into the liquid - if that is the only way I can get into the os. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
