Re: Politics was K/E and tort reformFrom: Joanne Bulley, MD (islesannie@yahoo.com)Mon Aug 9 00:04:15 2004
The media as a whole are controlled by VERY FEW corporations. Does your city have any locally owned and operated TV or radio station? A very few huge corporations own nearly all. Although the media (by some reviews) are deemed to be a to the left of the current government -- you can be pretty darned centrist and still be "liberal" compared to that. And as for Roe v Wade - if Bush and company get elected this time - getting rid of Roe v Wade is on their agenda. The numbers are that 46% of women in the USA have had at least one termination by menopause. Do we want the government to decide that these 46% can not listen to their own conscience and ethics - but have to go by the ethics of Bush et al? I would rather see better contraception -- but we aren't there yet. Religious fanaticism is religious fanaticism - whether it is "Muslim", "Jewish" or "Christian" and each has as its basis "love your enemy" Then most fight over whose way of saying that is best. As President Lincoln said, "I can only hope that we are on GOD'S side" (not claim that God is on our side) Democracy - our democracy - is based on being sure that the minority is not trod upon by the majority. And many think that defending that is too liberal. No we did not become fascist at the end of WW2 -- but we are pretty close now. And we attaked Iraq based on lies put forth by Bush and friends --- because of the views of Wolfowitz and company at The Project for the New American Century -- as outlined in 1997-2000. BEFORE Bush got into the White House. This Republican think tank happens to be a "not for profit" 501c3 (tax exempt for the non USA folks here) organization. This means it is not supposed to take part directly in political actions - elections - yet it has recently added some very much anti-Kerry stuff on the site. I find it all very very scary. see http://www.newamericancentury.org/index.html http://www.newamericancentury.org/RebuildingAmericasDefenses.pdf We are NOT safer than we were before.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
