Politics was K/E and tort reformFrom: Joanne Bulley, MD (islesannie@yahoo.com)Fri Aug 6 07:53:41 2004
And I will take the trial lawyers over the religious right! The trial lawyers may make my business practice tough. But the religious right (claiming to be christian in THIS country) is truly as fanatic and any fanatic religious group tromps on human dignity and personal choice over many many issues. Throughout human history religious fanatics have mostly made women's lives cages without freedom. I may not like everything about K/E - but Bush/Cheney and comapany are well on the way to making this country fascist. Common threads in the fascist regimes of recent history are: 1.Powerful and continuing expressions of nationalism 2.Disdain for the importance of human rights 3.Identification of enemies/scapegoats as a unifying cause 4.The supremacy of the military/avid militarism 5.Rampant sexism 6.A controlled mass media 7.Obsession with national security 8.Religion and ruling elite tied together 9.Power of corporations protected 10.Power of labor suppressed or eliminated 11.Disdain and suppression of intellectuals and the arts 12.Obsession with crime and punishment 13.Rampant cronyism and corruption 14.Fraudulent elections see: http://www.publiceye.org/eyes/whatfasc.html http://www.secularhumanism.org/library/fi/britt_23_2.htm So ... we shall see where things go this November. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
