Question / Poll:

How long do you instruct patients to have nothing per vagina (sex, tampon, douching -- 1 week, 3 weeks, 6weeks etc?

1) After cryo / laser?

When the discharge is back to normal - 2-3 weeks.

2) After LEEP?

Same

3) After cold knife cone?

When released in the office, usually 4weeks.

4) After Hysteroscopy (+/- hysteroscopic surgery)?

When the discharge is back to normal - 2-3 weeks.

5) After Cesarean?

When the bleeding has stopped and discharge is normal, usually 4-6 weeks.

6) After Hysterectomy? (is it different if Abd or vag and +/- cervix?)

When released in the office, after I've examined them and the sutures are gone and no granulation tissue noted; usually 4-6 weeks.

Joanne

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
