Even though there were hopes that the COX 2 meds would not have the same effects of ductal closure, decreased amniotic fluid volume, possible fetal bowel and kidney issues as the earlier COX 1& 2 non-steroidals, it appears they have the same potential for fetal risk. As such, they can be used only for a limited time (72 hours period) between 24 and 32 weeks for indications such as preterm labor or degenerating fibroids. Lynn

Anyone have info on using Bextra or Celebrex in pregnancy for uterine irritability, probably caused by adenomyosis or serosal endometriosis?

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
