Re: LDR v. LDRPFrom: Barborza@aol.comThu Jul 22 17:54:34 2004
In a message dated 7/22/2004 1:31:39 PM Eastern Standard Time, dean@thehuffpeople.net writes: I suppose that in a very small unit, LDRP is acceptable. But in any unit that does a lot of deliveries, LDR is much preferable, in my opinion. This is true. I worked in a unit with one doc, 2 CNMs and 7 LDRPs. No nursery - only a small room for circs and post C/S babies while mom still in recovery (C/S done in main OR) or sick babies awaiting transfer. I loved it, as most babies never left their mother's room during their entire stay. Since premature or sick moms and sick babies were transferred there wasn't the problem of training all nurses to be able to handle normal and abnormal moms and babies. Barb Orza, CNM Atlanta

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
