LDRP's are great!: As long as you have enough of them. and As long as you maintain a nearby O.R. They have a tendency to screw up patient flow, if you don't have enough of them to handle ALL of your deliveries, you then tend to have to put some people in "Postpartum" rooms in order to have a "Delivery Room" for the next "Laborette" to arrive. We have 11 LDRP's but not enough. They get used as LDR's then the patient gets moved to a postpartum room. We average 10 deliveries per day, Our pediatricians keep the babies 48 hours. You can see the problem.

We are having the perennial argument about LDR's versus LDRP's. Could y'all supply your experiences and opinions regarding the two options. Further, if anybody has any resources for available studies looking at the differences, I would greatly appreciate it - I did a medline and came up empty. Lynn

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
