Dr. Klein, My husband's a general surgeon and he said it's not abandonment if you sent the patient a certified letter giving her a 30 day notice to find a new doctor. The patient has to gice the current doctor the name of the new doctor for the records to be transferred(consent for that, of course!) Gail Neuman RNC CPHW SNP

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
