It is utterly amazing, in retrospect, the there has been virtually no mention of EMR on this board. >From solo to large enterprise, the ground is covered. I am in a group practice of 40 ob/gyns, all at Northside Hospital in Atlanta, divided into 6 distinct pracrices under a single tax i.d. Our practice management system (pms) is Centricity from G.E., formerly known as Millbrook. The convergence of the 6 practices occurred in 1999. The search for an EMR began in 2001. The flooded market without clear definition and with extreme weakness in Electronic Data Interface (EDI) that allows for portals to patient, lab, hospital, imaging centers and consultants has resulted in decision to date not to implement in an immature technology. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
