Seen on another listserv:

" The American Medical Association has created a Category III CPT code (0074T) for online consultations between physicians and patients. Medicare will begin using the code on July 1, but private payers may implement it before then.  While 0074T will make it easier to report and track online consultations, payment for these services will remain the prerogative of the payer ".

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
