Re: Unconventional Births on Discovery Channel HealthFrom: Marie Harkins & Bill King (mharkins@twcny.rr.com)Wed Jun 16 05:40:35 2004
Sadly, I think that those births may be becoming more "unconventional" in the future. Today, I had two women ask for elective CS. One woman was a primip and one was a multip. Both felt their babies were going to be "too big". The multip was only 32 weeks! After some counseling regarding risks/benefits of vaginal vs. CS, I sent them on to the MDs. I wouldn't be surprised if they did end up with the CS that they want. It is hard to refuse in this current medicolegal climate. The whole thing left me feeling a bit depressed about the state of obstetrics. Marie Harkins, CNM Ithaca, NY

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
