Re: IUFD ManagementFrom: Seele, Mona (Mseele@tmh.tmc.edu)Fri Jun 4 09:29:06 2004
Personally, I think within a week would be better, with 2 weeks being the farthest margin. That being said, I think that each practitioner needs to discuss the rationale for waiting and see how long they can handle waiting from an emotional standpoint. -----Original Message----- From: ob-gyn-l@obgyn.net [mailto:ob-gyn-l@obgyn.net]On Behalf Of RModugno@aol.com Sent: Thursday, June 03, 2004 6:37 PM To: Multiple recipients of list OB-GYN-L Subject: Re: IUFD Management In a message dated 6/3/2004 5:16:31 PM Eastern Standard Time, Mseele@tmh.tmc.edu writes: As a person with personal experience of IUFD at 28wks, I have to say that 6 weeks is too long. When this happened to me, my doctor gave it 2 weeks and then induced. The 2 weeks were a mixed bag - on the one hand it gave me time to come to terms with the IUFD, on the other, I was far enough along that people knew I was pregnant and continually came up to me as asked "when is your baby due" or "is it a boy or a girl"? Emotionally, by the time 2 weeks was up I was entirely ready to get it over with. How much time do you think is enough? The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
