Yeah, click on Illinois to see what I'm dealing with. Don't know where the lawyers got the idea that it's the greedy insurance companies. The U of I is self-insured and non-profit, but the rates for our department are going up 56% this year. When the last trauma neurosurgeon leaves Southern Illinois at the end of June, I guess we'll just have to wait til some legislator's kid gets in a major wreck down in Springfield and has to be helicoptered to Chicago to patch him up, then maybe we'll get some action. Sad to think that that's what it will probably take.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
