Pregnancy in 5th month, sudden drop of fetus.? causeFrom: Joanne Simich (jmsmed58@hotmail.com)Sun May 23 01:58:02 2004
Hi everyone Just wondering if anyone can tell me why a sudden drop in position downwards occured in an almost 5 month old fetus. For two days after this sudden adjustment the patient had intermittent contractions, only just subsiding today. Patient is grav 2- no history of miscarriages. Her midwife (not me) did not advise hospital admission, no ultrasound, no pelvic exam, just bed rest. I want to know what you think is the reason for the sudden movement of the fetal position and also if you consider this midwife is undertreating this patient. I would at least expect a pelvic exam, to check the integrity of the cervix and any the degree of engagement in the pelvis if any. What do you think? Thanks a lot Kind regards Joanne Registered Comprehensive Nurse, NZ.
