A call to the state board of pharmacy may be helpful. Failing that, .45 cal works well.

Listers,

I am not a huge "snake oil" salesperson when it come bioidenticals, but I will either new start or switch patients to them if they request. I use the same talked echoed by others here on the list, assuring that the patient understands that estrogen is likely estrogen when it comes to risk and that there are no studies that have included these agents.

Last week, after calling in prescriptions for a patient who wanted to switch over, I got a call from the patient. She had gone to the pharmacy and was told by the pharmacist there that I didn't know what I was doing with regard to bioidenticals and that she knew significantly more. She then told the patient that I had prescribed the wrong medication and they needed to be changed.

Has anybody heard that you have to "wean" a patient off Premphase before starting another preparation?

Since then, I have been repeatedly counting to 10, trying to cool off and decide what to do...

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
