If FSH is high (but really high, over 25) I use estradiol levels on day 3 in order to assess the need for HRT. In PCOS patient, estradiol levels are helpful in assesing the quality of the oocyte. If the patient is infertile, more than 10 means bad prognosis in IVF cycle compared to less than 10. If higher than 20, fertilization rate is around 60% and live birth delivery very low.
