Re: 4 th stage active managementFrom: Steve & Eryl Raymond (eryl@intekom.co.za)Mon Apr 26 12:11:09 2004
Standard treatment for decades - ergometrine 0.5mg im (or i.v.) at crowning of head. If concerned about blood pressure, Syntometrine (ergometrine 0.25mg plus oxytocin 5 units) or just oxytocin 10 units. Only use Cytotec 1gm pr in cases of atonic PPH, but even there no guarantee that it is any better. Steve

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
