>From theChicago Tribune:

Suit against insurer: A Berwyn physician is suing the state's largest insurer of doctors, accusing the company of defamation that has caused him to lose business.

In a suit filed Tuesday in Cook County Circuit Court, Dr. Mark Macumber accuses ISMIE Mutual Insurance Co. and affiliates of damaging his practice by encouraging other physicians not to accept his patients because of his decision to drop his malpractice coverage.

ISMIE said Wednesday that it has not seen the lawsuit, and that therefore it could not comment on it.

Macumber has been featured in several news reports, including in the Tribune. The articles focused on the growing number of physicians who have decided to drop their malpractice insurance coverage, a practice known as "going bare," in the face of rising malpractice premiums

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
