Re: Doctors leaving delivery rooms over malpractice insurance costsFrom: Douglas Krell (dkrell@msn.com)Mon Apr 12 16:13:10 2004
On the radio driving home today I heard a commentator report on a Boston area FBI agent who back in 2000, studied security issues at Boston's Logan Airport and actually sent a letter...pre-9/11... to none other than Massachussetts Senator John Kerry. In the letter the FBI agent described testing the security systems in place at a number of Logan's terminal gates including the one the 9/11 terrorists actually used. He even proposed to the Senator, a scenario in which multiple hijackings might occur simultaneously, and that their motives might include suicide terrorism attacks on major buildings and landmarks. Now that sounds like Kerry was alerted to a specific threat at a specific location...and look what happened. Nothing. My question is...how many OBGYN's have to go out of practice in order for people to realize that a problem exists and to actually DO something about it? Given the analogy to 9/11, I think that it would take a major catastrophe and then, people would only remember it for a short period of time.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
