Re: Prophylactic antibiotics at csectionFrom: Garry E. Siegel, M.D. (garrys@mindspring.com)Fri Mar 26 19:31:12 2004
I doubt any of us will see a change--the number of wound infections is small, so it would take a large sample to see a difference. Curiously, when a laboring patient at term is GBS positive, and getting antibiotics (Penicillin in this example), what do you do when they go to section: 1. Assume the Penicillin has been sufficient for prophylaxis? 2. Use your normal prophylactic antibiotic? 3. Other? Garry

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
