That was my thought too Heidi, the system needs to change and it will only change if doctors, midwives and birthing women stand up and get counted! No doubt I'm about to be shouted down again, and possibly some on this list are involved with trying to change the status quo, so perhaps they'll speak up and tell the others how to get involved. The way I think about things is that I have no right to complain unless I'm involved in trying to change things. Here in NZ we changed much by politicising birth. But midwives had to become political, and women had to become political. Of course for us it helped having a woman in charge of health and a woman Prime Minister (who BTW is now an honorary midwife). The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
