The OB Medical Staff Committee and Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee jointly wrote a letter requesting an exception from JCAHO for Magnesium Sulfate to be available for OB on the floor. -----Original Message----- From: ob-gyn-l@obgyn.net [mailto:ob-gyn-l@obgyn.net]On Behalf Of Myer Bornstein Sent: Saturday, March 13, 2004 9:00 AM To: Multiple recipients of list OB-GYN-L Subject: Re: Change of subject Mag Sulfate on L&D Well we have JCAHO coming, and one of their recommendations is there will not be any concentrated electrolyte solutions on the nursing units. That also includes Mag Sulfate. The only premixed we can obtain is having it premixed in D5W, which I do not like to use, except when we give the first bolus. What are your organizations doing re this recommendation? Myer Myer S. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
