Re: GEN: Cesarean Refusal Results In Murder ChargeFrom: Richard Kaplan (rkaplan@triad.rr.com)Sat Mar 13 21:17:53 2004
Was it 100% certain in this case that there would be a stillbirth unless a cesarean was performed? I would be curious to know. Assuming that there was a lesser degree of risk, would the mother still be guilty of murder because she disagreed with the obstetrician? What if a father decides that his wife's obstetrician should perform a cesarean and the OB disagrees. If a stillbirth occurs is this; a)bad luck b)malpractice or c)murder?

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
