Why did she refuse? This is the crux of the situation. Dan "Sound is like water. I think that when my partners or I advise a section in such a circumstance (and how uncommon is this--pretty uncommon), and it is refused, that we are left potentially hanging out to dry should the outcome be less than ideal. I do not enjoy practicing when patients refuse reasonable intervention presented in a reasonable fashion. I'm all for two was discussion and all, but, let's face it, this baby was at significant risk of birth injury and the mother refused to allow an appropriate section. Furthermore, she put herself and her baby at increased risk (albeit not much) by insisting on laboring. Garry

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
