Re: Hormones and asthma from an allergy e-mail listFrom: Joanne Bulley, MD (islesannie@yahoo.com)Sun Feb 29 18:11:02 2004
At this point in time - it appears that the "in vogue" thing is to blame everything on estrogen ... while at the wame time there is lots of talk of men demanding testosterone supplements -- for much less evidence of "andropause" than the good indications for estrogen! The band wagon is definitely anti-estrogen - even though the "final" data from the PremPro arm of the WHI shows no statistical significant difference for anything except the VTE (that was already known). By stopping it early they avoided having to see statistical significane in the benefits (by the way the graphs look for colo-rectal cancer and fracture prevention) but then we can't make any judgements by how the graphs look for the future! I am very interested in what the final data from the Premarin arm will show. I have it from a little bird at a conference who has seen some of the data - that "it is looking good" Joanne

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
