No, I would not give her a chance in my practice. It would be either against advice (and documented as such), or I would suggest that she go elsewhere. If I felt it necessary, I would dismiss her. If she stayed, but didn't cooperate--meaning that she wouldn't allow scheduling a section, or if in labor, refused a section--then I would simply document, document, document. Every once in a while, people might stay in the practice and "lead you on" to think they will do that which you ask, but when it comes time, they don't (i.e. I'll schedule a section, or I'll have a section when in labor, and then refuse). I would not induce, and probably not augment her. I think John has said it right--it's OK as long as you don't mind taking a chance that you and/or your baby could die, and if needed, I would say just that. Garry

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
