I would request expert consultation on the Pap smear. ASCCP has such a service available to its members. An Expert cytologist should be able to distinguish between hormonal effects and AGUS. Dan

62 yo G1 P1 on estratest h.s. and with Mirena in place for 2 years. No prior history abnormal paps. Recent pap reported as AGUS.

Spoke with pathologist. His opinion is that this is likely due to the Mirena's hormonal effect and foriegn body effect.

Spoke with Mirena Product Information Line. No helpful information.

Will proceed with colpo to rule out cervical lesions.

Does anyone have any experience similar experience or advise? Does Mirena have to be removed? Is it possible to do EMB while securing strings? Any thoughts appreciated.
