I have used it about a half dozen times mostly post op after ruptured ectopics with HGB's in the 4's, seems to help slightly but still takes them about a week to get back to 8 and I have had equally fast responses with just ferrous gluconate 300 QID in young women with healthy marrow. Most of the studies showing a good effect with erythropoietin are in cancer and leukemia patients after chemotherapy, these patients are in a catabolic state from malnutrition and And chemo, there kidneys are probably not making a lot of erythropoietin so the exogenous stuff probably helps them to a greater extent.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
