I haven't been able to get the clavicle to break with Shoulder dystocia.
Remember clavicular fracture is one of the maneuvers recommended in the
treatment of shoulder dystocia. It is a good thing to have.
Also studies show that it happens in about 1% of all deliveries. It is
seldom recognized when it does happen, unless someone is actually looking
for it.

In a recent discussion, there was the question of WHICH clavicle fractures
spontaneously with a dystocia, or even uneventful break. Without trying to
bias the discussion, would it be the anterior secondary to traction, or the
posterior due to compression?
Likewise, can anyone scan or fax me a copy of the ACOG management for
diabetic mothers and fetal macrosomia from 1991/1994 regarding fetal macros?
