Re: Patient Weight/Patch efficacyFrom: Braun, R. Daniel (rbraun@iupui.edu)Fri Jan 9 04:17:10 2004
As it was explained to me, women who weighed more than 180 were excluded from the clinical trials. This means we don't know whether or not it is effective. Dan -----Original Message----- From: ob-gyn-l@obgyn.net [mailto:ob-gyn-l@obgyn.net] On Behalf Of RModugno@aol.com Sent: Thursday, January 08, 2004 5:19 PM To: Multiple recipients of list OB-GYN-L Subject: Patient Weight/Patch efficacy I am under the impression that women over 180+lbs have higher 'breakthrough pregnancy rates" when using the birth control patch, and I am loathe to prescribe it to them. Am I correct in doing so? Robert Modugno MD MBA FACOG Marietta, GA http://www.novaobgyn.yourmd.com

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
