The Pfizer study demonstrated this (O/G 8/01, 98:218-23), and is supported by Robert Wood Johnson study (Am J O/G 2/98, 178:300-4). Both of these, as You mentioned, were short term dose investigations, using Patients as their own controls. What data did the monograph refer to? tj ainsron@sbcglobal.net (Dr. Ainsworth) Sent by: ob-gyn-l@obgyn.net 11/13/2003 11:10 AM Please respond to ob-gyn-l To: Multiple recipients of list OB-GYN-L <ob-gyn-l@dns.obgyn.net> cc: Subject: Diflucan and OCs A pharmacist recently sent me a note to find out if I "really wanted to prescribe Diflucan, 150mg" for a uncomplicated yeast infection on a patient on OCs. He sent me a drug interaction monograph that reported several pregnancies in patients on OCs. On reviewing it, all of the patients they discussed were on long-term Diflucan, not a single daily dose. Do any of you have concerns about Diflucan and OCs? I don't. --=_alternative 0076616D88256DDD_ Content-Type: text/html; charset="us-ascii"
Ron, inhibition of P-450 mediated sterol synthesis in cell membrane of Candida (Azoles) should, if anything, enhance the efficacy of OC's (Davenport, Br J Pharm, 6/89 27:851-9).
