Re: Delivery by 'uncredentialed' providerFrom: Dr. Ainsworth (ainsron@sbcglobal.net)Wed Oct 15 13:04:48 2003
You're right about the busy-bodying, the CNM who made the complaint has always felt the group I back up to be too "non-medically oriented." You know the kind of midwife who is typical touchy-feely, handholding, Berkenstock-wearing CNM who provide patient oriented care, which I feel is high quality and well received by their patients. She, on the other hand is strict, no nonsense - definitely not someone you would see as "warm and fuzzy," works by herself with another physician I share call with and will not sign out to the other midwives, nor will they share call with her. I think she provides good care also, but more intervention oriented. It has always been a poorly tolerated non-collegial relationship. > >Who determines what concerns about liability there are? The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
