Does anyone recall a paper about 15 years ago about an increased risk of uterine perforation when an IUD is inserted too soon post partum in breast feeding women? I've seen 2 cases of perforation under these circumstances.

Over the years, I and my partners have placed several dozen IUDs at the 6 week pp visit, no problems with any of them.

I had an IUD inserted at my 6 week checkup and breastfed past a year. Menses resumed at 8 months, I think. (It WAS 27 years ago!) No problems for me. Of course, that's an N of 1.
