Not even sure what to call this oneFrom: Anna Meenan, MD (annam@uic.edu)Fri Sep 12 21:43:27 2003
Been taking care of a young woman for over 10 years, since she had her first baby 10 weeks early at age 17. Now she is in her late 20's, all grown up and married, head accountant for a large company. Currently 40 5/7 weeks by 9-week U/S (done because her periods were extremely irregular). Her mom came with her today and demanded (at 4:30 on a Friday) that she be induced right now, because "I just know she is 42 weeks now and something bad is going to happen to the baby." (pt. scheduled for induction in 4 days, on my day off). She got downright hostile, even though she has never been hostile to me before. Would not listen at all to my professional opinion. Took a long time to calm her down and convince her that I was not going to induce her daughter before 41 weeks on a Friday night. This job just gets really difficult to deal with when even the people you've always had a close relationship with suddenly turn on you. Pardon the pure unadulterated venting. It's Friday. Nobody has a good joke?

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
