IUD & CINFrom: Joanne Bulley, MD (islesannie@yahoo.com)Thu Sep 4 22:31:33 2003
What would you do? 20-something patient with a Paraguard IUD (new version of copper T for those not familiar with the brand name) Pap: ASCUS postive for high risk HPV Colpo & biopsies done with IUD in place. (results pending) What would you do if: 1 - biopsies show CIN 1 with negative ECC 2 - biopsies show CIN 2 with negative ECC 3 - Biopsies show CIN 3 with negative ECC Any other thoughts? Has anyone ever done a cryo with the IUD in place? Would the "string" become brittle and break? Would you remove the IUD before (or during) any treatment? Since it still has most of its 10 year functional life left - would you try to get a replacement IUD from the company - or charge for a new one - if you decide to take it out and put a new one back in? Thanks Joanne

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
