OK, maybe this accounts for some cases of macerated clitoris: Attended a resident delivery last night (actually, a VBAC that got dumped on me out of the blue by one of our other clinics, OB backup refused to come in,yadayadayada, whatever). Why do the residents all insist on digging their fingers into the poor mom's urethra and clitoris when they are controlling the delivery of a head? I tell them and tell them and tell them to turn their upper hand over and point their thumb and fingers towards the floor, but do they listen? The next delivery, they're right back to digging their fingers up into the urethra while the head crowns. Yeeeow! Is this just a U of I thing or do others who teach residents notice this too?

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
