Unfortunately, if SOMETHING is not done soon, we will see more and more headlines such as these. Hailing from Las Vegas, we experienced our own issues of extinction by being left out of the language for tort reform at our special session last year. We got a crash course in legislation and succeeded in being included in the language, hopefully it withstands challenges! I've written so much testimony that I feel like a lobbyist. Hey, now there's a job for when we're extinct...the liability risk is much less, I can sleep through the night, and the pay is better! Jeez, someone knock some sense into me!

My point you ask? Since reimbursement issues seem to be in the forefront of these issues, let's address that. For those of you in practice and collaborating with CNM's... thank you. More to the point, ACNM has a easy way for you to help by voicing your support for H.R. 2980, the Medicare Payment Update for Certified Nurse-Midwives Act. I believe you can see the benefit to you and your practices. Below is the direct link to the page. You can edit it as you like. With a little support, we can do this and remain viable to our patients. All it takes is a click!

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
