if you won't refer for counseling then it is YOU who become the counselor of record. if you are not well-versed in these issues or are uncomfortable, it behooves you to refer. the emphasis should be on good care ... insurance coverage should NOT dictate what constitutes good care. just my opinion ... i could be wrong. art

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
