Use either shoulder or hip braces to keep the patient from sliding. This is the approach I typically use for adnexal surgery when the uterus is absent and it is quite effective. My second choice would be to remove the IUD, insert a manipulator, and replace the IUD afterward. Call your Mirena rep, they usually have access to a "courtesy" IUD for special circumstances.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
