Uterine Rupture and pitocin useFrom: Tara (Oneday4evr@aol.com)Thu Aug 28 11:59:10 2003
Hi, I'm new here to the forum. I've been in pharmacy for many years and now am practicing as a doula with my first patient. They are already talking about induction (she is 25 weeks) because of her small frame and baby is measuring big. This is her second birth, first baby was a 35 weeker weighing 5lbs 2oz (currently measuring 4 cm ahead of schedule). I am concerned of uterine rupture with pitocin and any other augmentation meds but am unsure of how to express this without overstepping boundaries. Any suggestions and thoughts on uterine rupture. Oh, just thought I'd add here, I had a spontaneous U/R from a pit induction leading to a stillbirth. I also am fully capable of not letting my situation interfere with my job, however, talking of induction at 25 weeks leads me to worry a bit about the midwives she is seeing. Thanks.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
