Incompetent cervix at 6 weeksFrom: Richard Chudacoff, MD (rchudacoff@mylinuxisp.com)Sun Aug 17 13:46:04 2003
I have a 25 yo G0 at 6+6 weeks EGA who presented to me with about a 5 day history of spotting, ranging between pink mixed with mucus, to old, brown blood. She came in to the office and had a pretty benign exam, although when I did a transvaginal ultrasound, the cervix measure only 1.4 to 1.7 cm, and looked like it was beaking. She has no history of cervical manipulation, nor a maternal history of DES. I have the US picture on file, and can send it to whomever would like to see it. Other than waiting until 13 weeks and performing a cerclage, as well as bed rest as much as possible (tough as she is a teacher and school just started) any suggestions?
