While it's nice to think that "dad" would step up to the plate, I have yet to meet a husband or male partner who is not significantly bothered by performing a semen analysis. You can say "but women have to go through X, Y, and Z" as part of the fertility workup, but if almost every man is freaked out by the S.A. then maybe we should work harder to make the test easier to obtain. The last time I saw some of our local REs in the hospital I mentioned this issue, and noted that if they wanted to improve their customer service they might look at ways to make the process less bothersome. Many offices use a converted bathroom; perhaps others know of better methods to convince men to provide semen samples. Ashley

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
