Re: Significant Others in exam roomFrom: Joanne Bulley, MD (islesannie@yahoo.com)Mon Aug 11 20:44:01 2003
After being in the business for a few years ) it doesn't take many) and being aware of the abuse issue - you really can "feel" it when the SO - or father etc is in and being SUPPORTIVE - or whether it is and abuse/contol (which is abuse) as most of you know. Always pay attention to your gut. As one Lister said - don't throw the other party out - work to get the woman's trust and at some point manage to talk to her alone - etc etc etc. The local Violence Prevention office (formerly Women's Crisis Services) (has both male and female clients so is changing its name) does LOTS of prevention work in the schools and work places (also a reason for name change). If you "smell a rat" there is probably one lurking there. Joanne

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
