Let me say it a different way......I've "never" used a 50 mcg pill in the
years I've practiced, since 82, and "never" did a D&C for DUB in those
years as well. Yes, many office hysteroscopies finding many submucous myomas
and polypoid lesions in young women. I find too many physicians making too
many changes in bcp's due to btb with minimal councelling of the patients as
to what their expectations should be regarding expected btb on any
prescribed pill. I've seen too many of these abrupt changes lead to too
many unnecessary invasive procedures. I agree with never saying never or
always in our profession but every rule has an exception! What does Dan
Mishell say on the subject? I would take his teachings with more weight
than my experience but I would be surprised to see him support the use of
50mcg pills.
