Ever hear of the expression "non sequitur"? BTB is usually due to a relative excess of progestagen, thus you can either decrease the PRG or increase the oestrogen. Either way it is not reasonable to say that you would never use a higher oestrogen containing pill. If you are already using a very low progestagen containing pill you would have no alternative but to increase to a 50 mcg pill. If you are concerned about the level of oestrogen over the long term it is usually sufficient to use the higher oestrogen pill for about three cycles.

Repeat after me "Never say never or always in medicine"! Steve

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
