Uteriine Suspension

I did the uterine suspension earlier this week using the Carter-Thomason needle fromt the Inlet Medical folks.

Getting the needle through the round ligament was like threading through a rubber band. Since there are four passes - it got easier as I continued the procedure. They give you 0-Novafil for the suture. Tree are given just in caes. Well, yours truly (me) broke one while tying it down :( Glad they gave me the extra. The Carter-Thomason needle is a needle and forceps in one.

The scariest part for me was getting the needle into the round ligament - with the femoral vessels so close!

Surgery was Tuesday and I saw her today to take out her sutures. She has sacral pain - I figure from the re-positioning pulling on the uterosacrals and hurts more from the stitch in the right round ligament than the left - yet it was the left I had to do twice.

I'll post how the results turn out.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
