imho - the significance of nuchal cord is the same at 16 wks as at 36 wks. the only difference as the fetus nears viability would be in the setting of decreased fetal movements and the finding of nuchal cord. i truly feel that the umbilical cord is used to explain what we truly don't understand. to quote Louie, "Round up the usual suspects!"
