Re: Acute Appendicitis at 36.5 weeksFrom: Douglas J. Krell MD (djkrell@ix.netcom.com)Fri Jun 30 16:36:03 2000
> Thanks to everyone for their input on this subject. The general surgeon and I performed the appy with a muscle splitting incision just above the umbilicus. The offending organ was a little hard to find but definately ready to burst when we were there. We decided to take your advice and perform only the appy, based upon everyone's comments. The risk of spreading infection to a C-section site was also considered as a reason to avoid 2 procedures. The patient is contracting occasionally though her cervix is unchanged. I'll let you know how the delivery goes. Douglas Krell MD

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
