Re: Ovarian mass and early pregnancy (long--what a surprise!)From: Braun, R. Daniel (rbraun@iupui.edu)Fri Jun 30 05:52:25 2000
9 Cm. is an awful big ectopic for an HCG of 3800. Do a Menstrual Aspiration first and see if you get villi. If you do, then you can watch HCG and cyst. If not, you could give MTX and watch cyst. Point Blank, I asked him if he thought that he should have seen more with that HCG, and he didn't hesitate--yes. So, now we have an HCG of 3800, an empty uterus, and an ovarian mass--and by the way, she doesn't wish to be pregnant. My working assumption is an ovarian mass unrelated to pregnancy (although Jay could be right--but a 9 cm. corpus luteum seems a bit unusual), and let's rule out an ectopic, realizing it *might* be a very early IUP. It is Thursday night, and we're going to the OR Friday PM. I'm then out of town, but will post the results. Garry
